Galala Marble
Galala marble is Egypt's best-known beige marble, quarried in the Galala Mountain. It is valued for its durability, refined texture, consistent colour and timeless beige tone, and is used in residential, commercial and large architectural projects around the world.
Wadi Degla's story is tied to Galala: our founder opened the first Galala quarry in 1980, at a time when the mountain's marble was unknown.
The story of Galala
In 1980, Wadi Degla's founder, Alhag Saed Alghanam, explored the then-unknown potential of the Galala Mountain and opened its first quarry. Galala soon became one of Egypt's most sought-after stones, attracting importers from around the world. Under his leadership, Wadi Degla went on to own seven major quarries in Galala, and the second generation developed seven more.
